Located in the Caribbean, Haiti is on the western half of the island of Hispaniola. It is home to 11.5 million people and is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, Haiti gained its independence from France in 1804 and became the first independent black country in the world. Roughly 60% of the population lives below the poverty line.
4.1 million people are in food crisis and 1.6 million are in a state of food emergency.
Of the population in Haiti 24% fall below the extreme poverty line.
11.4 million people live in Haiti which is the poorest County in the western hemisphere.
Hunger crisis
The hunger crisis in Haiti is not only real, but it is increasing at alarming rates. In the last year, the number of people who do not know where they will get their next meal has doubled. In a country of Haiti of 11 million people, over 4 million people are in a state of emergency and are desperate. Mission Light of Life in Haiti is helping those in Haiti. Team Mission Light of Life is providing the children in the Mission House food and shelter. Love Faith Hope Blessing.
